Good Morning, Friends!
So, for the past few days, I have been finding that I am struggling with my body image. I am seeing posts on Instagram of models and how they look and even some of my friends and peers, how they look. Some of them almost look the same. Carbon copies of an image that society has drawn for us.
Why do I want to conform to that image?
Why am I so afraid that society will view me differently if I don’t look a certain way?
Recently I haven’t been wearing any makeup. I have been going to class with a clean face and feeling comfortable. I see these girls with caked faces and wonder if they are actually happy looking like that, or if they are only doing it for acceptance. For validation.
The only person you need validation from is yourself. The others who want you to look a certain way and act another don’t matter. The only opinion of yourself that matters is yours.
Don’t conform to what society says you should be. Be you. Don’t drive yourself crazy looking for acceptance.
Today’s “Song of the Day” is “Try” by Colbie Caillat. Though dated, this song serves it’s purpose and allows those struggling with their image to identify with it. The motto of the song is simple.
You don’t have to try so hard.
Remember,
Just Keep Breathing. Xx.
