Dear Readers,
Hi!
I’m Dylan and I’d just like to thank you for visiting my blog!
A little about me before we get into the swing of things:
1.) I am a junior in college studying Communication and looking to go into a career in Public Relations.
2.) I sing… a lot. I sing at events around campus and during musical productions with the music and theatre department.
3.) I love to write. I mainly do so in a fictional genre. I also love poetry and songwriting. It is a huge outlet for me.
4.) I have anxiety and depression.
I was diagnosed with them when I was around seven-years-old. These two have played a very large role in my life and how I perceive things. As time progressed, I realized that I could make a change in my own life, that I didn’t have to be sad for the rest of my time here.
So I turned to music.
Music takes my mind to a different world. Normally, with anxiety and depression, you can feel like you aren’t stable. Like you struggle to find gravity and land to plant your feet. You’re in the clouds yelling for someone to find you, but all you see are ants, and nobody sees you.
Music makes you feel like you are seen. Like you aren’t alone. And it’s true! You aren’t!
Sooooo many people struggle with things like this! Out of the people you see each day, I guarantee that at least 25% have anxiety or depression(that is just a guess but you get my point).
In my blogs I am going to be writing about, basically, how I am feeling and what I am doing to make myself happy. I am also going to pick a song that I find myself playing often and recommend it for you guys, so you have something to show you that you are not alone, and something to jam to too!!
Today, I am feeling okay, kind of still anxious about the new school year, but I feel like I didn’t overload myself so that’s good! I am excited to see my cast and to go to all of the new events with the music and theatre department! My anxiety has been making her presence known throughout the past few weeks because of some events that have popped up, but remembering to breathe and going out with friends and my boyfriend has been taking my mind off of it. I’m doing my best!
Today’s Song of the Day is “Believer” by Lea Michele. With its soothing melody and meaningful lyrics, Michele’s piece serves as a signal of resilience in difficult times. When I listened to the lyrics for the first time, it left me feeling empowered and overall in a better mood than I was previously. Give it a listen!
I hope you all have a great day filled with lots of positivity! Check back on Sunday for another post and make sure to check out my social media linked on my homepage!
Remember,
Just Keep Breathing. Xx.
